Lauren's
question:
HI Kerry!
My friends and I saw you in "Bat Boy" and thought that you
were wonderful! What a great show. Anyway, I really enjoy your voice
and I was wondering if you could reccomend a voice teacher in the city.
I recently moved to NYC after graduating from Arizona State University
with a degree in Musical Theatre. So I am yet another struggling actress
in NYC. I would love any advice that you may have!
Thank you!
Lauren
Dear
Lauren,
I have a great voice teacher for you!!!
Liz Caplan! She has helped me
so much-
I love her. She's really good for belting correctly. Good Luck!

Christopher's question:
Dear Kerry,
I missed Bat Boy (love the recording), caught you putting the beauty
into Beauty and the Beast (bet you've never heard that before) in Canada...
So, what's next for the many of us Kerry fans? Are there any original
works or replacement role projects in the wings?
I am going to do Prodigal at the York Theatre in March. After
that I have a few options, and I'm in the process of deciding what to
do. Check out the news section, as soon as I
know anything it will be posted there. Thanks

Christine's question:
Dear
Kerry,
Hi! My brother and I usually go to New York to visit our grandparents
every summer and this summer our uncle took us in to the city. Before
we went he said that we were going to see a musical. He told us that
it was either going to be Bat Boy or The Lion King, but that he might
not be able to get tickets for the Lion King. To tell you the truth
I was more excited about seeing the Lion King than Bat Boy. But after
I saw the show I thought it was so cool! My brother and I each have
our own soundtrack for Bat Boy. My parents think all the songs are really
neat and they both wanted to see the musical. I was really disapointed
when I heard it would be closing soon. Will Bat Boy ever being playing
again somewhere? I doubt it, but I might as well ask. Also, What was
your favorite musical to perform in?
Hi
Christine-
I'm glad you liked BatBoy!! I'm sure BatBoy will be in many other places!
I don't know whether it will make it anywhere with the original cast
though. There had been rumors about it moving to Broadway, but for now
nothing is set. To answer your second question...I can't really say
they are like my babies. I enjoyed them all for different reasons. If
I had to pick, I'd probably say Eponine in Les Miz.

Dave's
question:
Kerry
-
I was lucky enough to catch Bat Boy this past Saturday night and though
both the show and your performance was spectacular. One thing I was
wondering - when you're in a show that has a long run, do you ever get
bored performing the same material night after night? If so, how do
you overcome that? Thanks and Good Luck, Dave
Hey
Dave,
I get very bored sometimes. I try really hard not to, but after 6 months
it's usually inevitable. Eventually I come up with new choices, which
makes it fresh again. Also when new actors come in to a show it refreshes
the show. When I start hating to go to work I know I have to leave the
show. I have to give a 100 percent or else it is not fair to the audience.
Good Question!

Elle's question:
Dear
Kerry,
I am a big fan of you and loved your performance in Beauty and the Beast
when you were in Toronto. I was wondering if you have stayed in touch
with those cast members and if you got to keep your costumes that you
wore in the play? Thanks.
Dear
Elle,
Unfortunately I don't talk to many people from Toronto. I really miss
them we were very close. Occasionally I'll hear from someone but I would
love to go back and see them! I loved being in Toronto! I did not get
to keep any of my costumes! They actually sent my costumes with me to
Broadway. They are so expensive, they probably keep them in storage
somewhere.

David's
question:
Dear Kerry,
I just saw "Bat Boy," and WOW! I was skeptical about the show
at first because the premise seemed just a little too odd, but somehow
you all made it work so well. Surely you were skeptical about it at
first too-- what made you realize that it had so much potential? By
the way, I'm planning to see it again soon-- please tell me the cast
will still be intact for another couple of months or so!
-David
Dear
David,
I had no idea whether this would be a hit or not even when we were in
previews. My agent had seen the workshop and told me it was great. It
changed every day up until opening- major changes during previews! So
it was really hard to tell. I just had to trust everyone and hope for
the best. As for the cast, most people should be there still. We are
just to take vacations though, so you may not se the whole cast. However
the understudies are great!

Kai's
question:
Dear Kerry,
Hey! Look, I'm an actress in the making (aren't we all) and I've just
started a lot of auditions. I don't really know any great songs to sing
though. I was wondering (just to kind of get an idea) what are some
songs that you sing at auditions. It can be for any voice part. I'd
be so happy to know. Thanks so much,
**Kai
Dear
Kai,
The songs a person sings for auditions are very personal. You should
go to the lincoln center library, and just listen to random old records.
Then maybe you'll find something. I currently do some songs that I did
readings of- that way I know the person before me most likely did not
sing the same song. Good luck!!!

Kohli's
question:
Dear
Kerry,
First, doing a great job in "Batboy" keep it up! Next, are
you already scouting out your next Broadway or off BW role, or are you
sitting pretty and just focusing on BB for now? I guess I don't really
know how all that works? Just wondering,
Thank
you
~Kohli
Kohli,
I am always auditioning for new stuff. Although I don't know whether
I would take another show now. But I won't take anything out of town,
so that limits my choices. I would love to get a TV show!

Brian's
question:
Hi Kerry,
I
was wonder what are your hobbies and interest and do you have any pets?
Thanks!
-Brian
Hi Brian!
When I'm not working I go on bike rides, swim, do yoga. I love to make
crafts, and paint when I have free time. I go in my parents canoe-love
that!!! I read books- currently about the environment and health. I
also enjoy cooking and gardening on my balcony. Someday I would love
to have a big garden and grow my own vegetables! Unfortunately I do
not have any pets.
-Kerry
Clark's
question:
How tall are you?
Dear
Clark,
I am 5'2 and 1/2 can't forget that- I need all the help I can
get!
-Kerry
Amber's
question:
Just a quick question!
What is your natual hair color? I met you a few years ago and you had
brown hair. Why the sudden change to a blonde?
Dear
Amber,
I had to change my hair color for a play about 1 year ago, and then
I did another play and they wanted it lighter, and then Batboy wanted
it even more blonde. So the blonde thing seems to be working for me,
I don't know if I'll stay this blonde, but it is fun to change up your
look. I had never done anything to my hair before.

Lib's
question:
I was just wondering
how you got into drama and singing. Ihave been 'into' it so to speak
from the age of 5. Yet due to bad knees, Igave up dance and juts stuck
with drama. Can u give me any links? and advice? good luck for the future.
libs
xXx
Libs,
I have been acting since I was little too. I constantly take classes-
voice and all different kinds of acting. I would say when you are still
starting out, you should try to be in any show you can- just to get
experience. And you never know who is in the audience!
- Kerry
Jeff's
question:
Dear Kerry,
Do
you currently work at any other jobs, other than Batboy? Is it difficult
to support yourself on an actor's salary? What is the pay difference
between Broadway and Off-Broadway? Do you plan on acting forever, or
do you have any other interests?
-Jeff
Thanks
for your letter Jeff! My "day job" is doing commercials. (mostly
radio or voiceovers) You may have heard me in the ever popular Trojan
commercials. The difference between Broadway and off- is a lot of money.
Although, I have been very lucky and have been able to make my living
as an actress without any other jobs. Whenever I get a Broadway show,
I always invest my money, because I know there will be a time soon enough
when I will be back on unemployment. As far as acting forever, I hope
so. Occasionally I think about becoming a kindergarten teacher. Sometimes
I get tired of auditioning all the time, and want to do something more
meaningful. But I'll probably just act. I've been doing it since I was
5 years old, so it's all I really know.

Fay's
question:
Kerry,
I am an aspiring singer, and will be moving to NYC in a week to go to
Manhattan School of Music for vocal performance. Anyway, my best friend
and I saw "Bat Boy" in the city a month ago, and you and the
rest of the cast was absolutely brilliant. It was a great change from
the typical shows you see in New York. I loved the smaller cast, and
the fact that the actors portrayed more than one part. The performance
was flawless, and the show is so clever. Is it just me that thinks that
portions of "Bat Boy" are satires on other musicals? For example,
how Dr. Parker, Meredith, and Bat Boy come back from the dead to sing
the last number, ala Blood Brothers. Just wanted to congratulate the
amazing cast. Keep it up!
Dear
Fay,
You are right! The show satires lots of musicals! Children Children
is a spoof on the Lion King for example. Well I wish you all the best
while you are here. NY can be a tough place to move to. Thanks for your
letter! Good Luck!!
-Kerry
Eileen's
question:
Hey Kerry,
Cool site! Great audio clips! I read that you would like to work in
TV. Do you think the character you played in "One Life To Live"
will be making a reappearance anytime soon? Would you ever consider
accepting a permanent roll in a "soap", if it didn't include
singing? (Hope not)!
Eileen
(OH)
Hi Eileen! I don't think Heather will be back on OLTL unfortunately-
although at the time people were telling me I'd be back. I would LOVE
to be on a soap that isn't a singing part. I actually tested for one
this year. Soap work is really fun, and much easier than the 8 shows
a week schedule- with one day off. Not that I'm complaining!
-Kerry
Buffy's
question:
Dear Kerry,
I think that you and your website is amazing. I do think that that you
should add some things to your site. Like a biography including when
you were born, your family, brothers and or sisters, schools you attended
and things like that! You should add what your favourite and least favourite
job are that you have had are. Favourite and least favourite food. Places
you like to shop and the type of make-up that you wear. I bet you think
that I'm crazy but this is the type of things that fans like to know!
Sincerely,
Buffy
Hi
Buffy! Thanks for your e-mail! I was born in Brooklyn. I went to an
all-girls school there. I have one sister. My first musical was Annie
in regional theatre, Ado Annie in a european tour-as my first professional
job. My favorite food is mexican, eggplant parmigianna, or chocolate
chip cookies! My least is Cous-cous- I took a trip to Morroco once,
and since I'm a vegetarian, that was all I could eat for 8 days! My favorite
store is Anthropology. I don't wear much makeup, usually just lipgloss
and mascara. Although I really like benefit makeup-they have fun stuff
like the bronzer. Hope I answered all your questions! Thanks for your
letter!

Wayne's
question:
Kerry -
I am visiting NYC and had the chance to see BatBoy this afternoon. I
thought your performance was excellent. I was especially impressed with
your singing ability. Have you ever given thought to recording an album?
I know that most actors want to xoncentrate on acting, but I haven't
heard anyone sing as well as you in a long time. I would wish you luck
in your future career, but I am confident that you will go far, regardless
of the inevitable minor setbacks that will occur in the interim. Break
a leg!
- Wayne
Dear
Wayne,
Thank you so much for your letter! I'm glad you enjoyed the show! This
show has actually opened up a lot of doors for me, and there should
be a few albums with me on them soon. As long as everything goes well
(keep your fingers crossed for me) There will be updates on
the board. Thanks again!
